What are CAT & ICATA?

Learn More

The three issues of the journal promote a relational understanding of psychotherapy and the wider context of mental health treatment and care. They are freely available on line through following the links below.

What is ICATA?

It is a federation of national associations promoting training and supervision in the practice of CAT from Australia, Finland, Greece, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Poland, Spain, India, Hong Kong and The United Kingdom. We look forward to more countries joining in.

ICATA's mission

ICATA has been constituted to promote and facilitate dialogue and consensus among member associations and others in relation to training, practice and development of CAT. Our aim is to support the use of CAT to improve the mental health and wellbeing of people around the world. ICATA aspires to recognise and embrace diversity whilst maintaining the core values and spirit of CAT.

The journal promotes a relational understanding of psychotherapy and the wider context of mental health treatment and care. It draws upon the ideas and methods of the Cognitive Analytic approach to understanding and alleviating psychological and social distress for individuals, groups and systems.

There are already three issues of the journal and it is seeking to produce an annual volume of 150-200 pages both in print form (limited copies) and as an open access online journal accessible through these pages.
